🤝 Method 1: Integration as "Upstream-Downstream" Processes
This is the most core and specialized integration method, treating hot rolling and cold rolling as successive stages on a continuous production line. Steel billets are first rolled into hot-rolled wire rods or round bars by a hot rolling mill and then fed directly into a cold rolling mill for subsequent processing. There are two specific forms:
Warm Rolling (Residual Heat Rolling): After hot rolling, the steel enters the cold rolling mill for "warm rolling" while its temperature is still between 400°C and 450°C. This method improves the steel's properties and reduces energy consumption during cold rolling.
Cold Rolling (Ambient Temperature Rolling): This is the most common process. After hot-rolled wire rods have fully cooled, they serve as the raw material for the cold-rolling production line; they undergo processes such as descaling, cold rolling, and heat treatment to produce cold-rolled ribbed steel bars.
Many specialized production lines for cold-rolled ribbed steel bars utilize hot-rolled wire rods as raw material and carry out subsequent processing using integrated cold-rolling equipment.
🏭 Model 2: Coexistence as "Independent Processes" within the Same Workshop
In a large-scale rebar processing plant or steel mill, hot-rolling and cold-rolling lines may operate independently, sharing the same physical workshop space.
The hot-rolling line is dedicated to producing hot-rolled rebar.
The cold-rolling line is dedicated to producing cold-rolled rebar.
While they share infrastructure-such as raw materials, logistics, and energy supplies-their production processes remain separate. In certain downstream deep-processing stages, both hot-rolled and cold-rolled rebar may serve as raw materials for the manufacture of finished products, such as rebar trusses.

Multi-functional, composite rolling mills are also available on the market.
These machines are single units capable of performing either hot-rolling or cold-rolling processes through component adjustments or replacements. Rather than executing both processes simultaneously, they offer manufacturers a flexible solution to meet varying order specifications and market demands.
