Galvanized Steel Strand Production Process
1.Monofilament manufacturing:
- High carbon steel or low carbon steel wire rod is used as raw material.
- Monofilaments of corresponding specifications are obtained through cold drawing.
- If necessary, the monofilaments are galvanized to form galvanized monofilaments.
2.Stranded wire manufacturing:
- The manufactured monofilaments are twisted into steel strands of corresponding specifications through a stranding machine.
- For prestressed steel strands, stabilization treatment is required after twisting to ensure its mechanical properties.

3.Galvanizing process:
- Electrogalvanizing: Suitable for the manufacture of galvanized monofilaments, providing good processability, but the coating is thin.
- Hot-dip galvanizing: More common in the final galvanizing treatment of steel strands, including degreasing, pickling, additive treatment, drying, hot-dip galvanizing, external blowing, internal blowing, air cooling, water cooling, passivation and other processes to ensure uniform zinc layer and strong adhesion.
4.Coating treatment:
- After hot-dip galvanizing, steel strands may be passivated to improve corrosion resistance.
- For special applications, anti-corrosion coatings such as epoxy resin may also be applied, such as epoxy steel strands, which adsorb and solidify epoxy powder on the steel strands through electrostatic induction effect to form a dense anti-corrosion layer.
5.Finished product processing:
- Galvanized steel strands need to go through cooling, passivation, inspection, weighing and other processes.
- Packaged and shipped in the form of shaftless rolls or I-shaped wheels for easy transportation and use.
Galvanized steel strand combines the strength of steel with the corrosion resistance of zinc and is widely used in bridges, buildings, power facilities and other fields. Its production process ensures the high performance and long life of the product.
